Tools in the Trades Boot Camp events
Come join us at Tools in the Trades Boot Camps, where apprentice candidates from around the province, both graduating SHSM students and adult job seekers, will be taking part in a one-day, intensive introduction to the trades hosted by Support Ontario Youth and Landscape Ontario.

The Tools in the Trade Bootcamp is designed to expose participants to different aspects of the trades to enhance their potential for employment and success in the skilled trades.  

The landscape and horticulture profession will be the focus of 10 upcoming Tools in the Trades Boot Camps that may be taking place near you.

Employer Panel: 10:45 a.m. - 11:45 a.m.

Landscape Ontario members are invited to participate in a Tools in the Trades networking and training event near you in one or both of the following ways:

  1. EMPLOYER PANEL
    Approximately an hour of your time is required to help answer questions, educate and network with candidates. (lunch is provided).

  2. ACTIVITY MENTOR
    Interact with SHSM students and adult job seekers for a full day or half a day session, to help guide participants through experiential learning activities. Pre-designed activities include: plant identification and layout, landscape construction, deck building, and landscape technology including a robotic mower and smart irrigation system.

More information about the Tools in the Trades Boot Camp

The day will include workshops in essential employability skills such as workplace etiquette, resume building, and interview skills. Participants will also practice trade specific skills under the guidance of Landscape Ontario and experienced trade professionals such as yourself.

Landscape and horticulture activity stations will include:
  • Technology (irrigation and robotic mower)
  • Carpentry/deck construction
  • Plant identification and layout
During lunch participants will have the opportunity to meet and network with employers (such as yourself) who may be looking to hire apprentices. This is your opportunity to get involved and see their work ethic in action.

This entire day is sponsored by Support Ontario Youth and is free to all who attend and will include lunch.
