Attendance jumps at London golf tournament
The 9th Annual London Chapter Golf Tournament was a sellout success on Sept. 5 at its new location, Echo Valley Golf Club.
Sponsors were very generous toward the tournament. A large portion of the proceeds went into the LO feature garden installed on the Veterans Memorial Parkway on Oct. 4.
The golf tournament started off with rain, but cleared by the time the golfers arrived and temperatures shot up. It was the highest temperature of the summer, but better late than never.
Players were able to view the Bobcat equipment that was on show for the day from Platinum Sponsor Bobcat of London.
The day started off with a lunch sponsored by Fisher’s Landscape Depot and Brampton Brick and beverage sponsors Huron Tractor and Veterans Memorial Parkway helped cool the players off with a refreshment.
This year there were no winners on the hole-in-one sponsored by Stevenson & Hunt Insurance and Oxford Dodge.
Spirits were high throughout the day as golfers tried to get closest to the keg, sponsored by Baseline Nurseries.
Best golfers of the day were the Santerra Stonecraft foursome.
Supper began with a steak dinner, sponsored by Stihl, and everyone received a Tim Hortons gift certificate from Permacon Group. Raffle tickets were sold for $3,600 worth of prizes and Echo sponsored two draws for a backpack blower from the putting contest.
The big prize of the day was a Belvedere fire pit valued at $650 donated by Brown’s Concrete and two seven-inch Galaxy Tabs, donated by Unilock.
This is the biggest fundraiser event of the year for the Chapter. It was a great success, which helps to ensure that the Chapter continues with its endeavors.
Mark your calendars for next year’s tournament on Sept. 11, which will be the 10th anniversary of the event.
