Canada’s sesquicentennial tulip
The National Capital Commission recently unveiled the Canada 150 tulip in Ottawa’s Commissioners Park, naming it the official tulip of the nation’s 150th anniversary. The tulip is white with red flames, resembling Canada’s Maple Leaf flag. During sesquicentennial celebrations in the spring of 2017, 300,000 Canada 150 tulips will be showcased in NCC flower beds, and thousands more will bloom in community gardens across Canada.
