Fall dinner unites growers on issues
Ontario nursery growers gathered at Piper’s Heath Golf Club in Milton, Ont. on Nov. 21 for the annual Landscape Ontario Growers’ Group fall dinner meeting.

LO Executive Director Joe Salemi updated attendees on the association’s meeting with the provincial government regarding snow and ice removal insurance, upcoming events including Landscape Ontario’s Congress Trade Show and Conference, as well as details about a major renovation planned for the Milton home office.

Cassie Russell from the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA) presented the unfortunate state of established habitats by the spotted lanternfly in upstate New York and Pennsylvania, and shared tips on identification and prevention. Russell also urged all growers to be vigilant and to thoroughly examine all imported items for signs of hitchhiking spotted lanternflies.
